Exercising my franchise

No, I'm not talking about the temporary closure of the Fairbanks Burger King.

I think this picture says it all.

Apparently I wasn't the only person at 1:20 PM on a Friday that wanted to vote. Check out this line.

When I walked into the State Building the security guard looks at me
"Down the hall, around the corner".
I look at him quizzically.
"Voting, right?"
"Why yes. Thank you!"

The line took maybe 5 minutes to go through. I had my ID ready, the elections staff looked up my record, confirmed my physical address, and printed out a sheet for me to sign. Then I got my ballot and voted. This is the first election I have only voted for one political party. I'm not comfortable with that. Voting for judges is always fun, and I do read the elections pamphlets (as anyone who's looked at Jeri's blog should know). I voted for Judge Funk more because I enjoy his show on KUAC than because of anything in the election booklet. I almost had jury duty in his court once, and tried to use that as a reason why I might be unqualified to be a juror. They tossed me for other reasons. Heh.

This looks to be a historic election, especially here in Alaska considering all the problems with Don and Ted, and La Sarah's national candidacy. I can't wait to see how it turns out, but now I've done my part. Let the end game commence.

I wish we had early voting here in Minnesota, but we don't. Glad you could vote early. I do wonder, however, how the candidates feel about all the early voting, and how it affects how the campaign. Although I doubt there's any new information out there top be had.

Despite being unhappy with the presidential candidate choices, I've made up my mind who I'm going to vote for, so unless someone digs up an unprosecuted felony that can be definitively pinned on one of the candidates, I doubt anything can change my mind at this point.

I'm usually voting more against a candidate rather than for.

Frex, my state representative. I voted against the incumbent, even though I've met the competitor and he seems nice. A llama could run against the incumbent and I'd vote for it instead of him.

Personally, I prefer musk oxen in public office to llamas - I hate it when llamas spit in session.

Yeah for voting!

Wait. You have a Burger King?

Ha ha, Nathan.

Franchises that I can think of:
Burger King, Wendy's, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway, Popeye's, Quizno's, Taco Bell, Chili's, Boston's, Carl's Junior, KFC and A&W.

We used to have an Arby's, and people still get dewy eyed over it being gone. The owners divorced and couldn't agree on who got it, so they closed both stores. That was almost 20 years ago.

Yay for voting!

We have "no excuse" voting, but since election day is a holiday for me, I figure we'll vote in the morning.

My problem is I'm still not sure about the governor's race and a couple of other local elections.

Our governor has done some good things, but he's also done some things I really don't care for, so I'm half tempted to write in "none of the above"

Our Rep has pissed me off, but the local R party can't even get together a candidate to run against him, and I don't think the Mountain Party has anyone either. SO that's another "none of the above"

Except of course we have frelling electronic voting, and it doesn't freaking let you write in candidates.

What? No Domino's?

And if the divorcing couple had two stores, they couldn't do one for each?

Also, yay voting! :)
